Row by Row 2016
This is a popular shop hop type event that spans all 50 states and a few shops in Europe. The event runs from June 21 to September 6.
Brighten your summer!
It's fun and easy to participate! Simply visit any participating quilt shop during the summer and ask for their free pattern for a row in a quilt. The 2016 theme is Home Sweet Home, and Annie's has created a unique row for you. Our row presents an inviting front yard, complete with picket fence and a friendly snail. It includes some unique, three dimensional flowers.
Annie's and all of the participating shops are happy to give you the pattern at no cost. While this event is similar to our local quilt run, it is different in several ways. There are no passports and no fees but there are hundreds of participating shops all across the continent. These shops are only offering the pattern to customers who walk in the door. Please don't ask them to email or mail their row patterns. Also remember that these patterns are the copyright property of the designers.
With the Row by Row Experience you can easily win a prize for sewing a project! Just complete a quilt using at least 8 different rows from 8 different 2015 participating shops. Be the first to bring it into a shop and you win a stash of 25 fat quarters. (That's 6-1/4 yards of fabric!) Win a bonus prize for using that store's row in your quilt. Your quilt is considered complete when it is quilted, bound, and labeled.
The purpose of the event is to help you get your creative ideas flowing by giving you unique building blocks. But we don't give you a pattern for a complete quilt. You decide what your quilt looks like. Since every shop creates a unique and different pattern, you can stack your rows, arrange around a center medallion, make them horizontal, vertical, upside down, on the front, on the back, whatever! You are the designer. Be creative and have fun, but be sure to use 8 different 2016 rows from 8 different shops.
Check the website: www.rowbyrowexperience.com. Click a state to see a listing of shops. A Google map and a downloadable list will also be made available before summer to help you find each shop.
Pictures of the shop's row will be also be available on-line. Each area has a Facebook page and the shops will posting photos of their rows when they are ready to show. You can "like" your area's page and any shop you plan to visit, but you don't have to be a member of Facebook to see the photos. Here is a link for the California Row by Row Facebook Page.
You have from June 21 through September 6, 2016 to collect the free patterns. You have until October 31, 2016 to submit a quilt to a shop for a prize.
